SVN Conference 2016

26/11/2016

Report on the SVN Conference – November 2016 at Kings Park, Northampton
“21 Years of Journeys with Jesus”.

It was a “wonderful two days to see just how SVN has grown!” wrote one of the 32 people afterwards, of the 120 volunteers.
SVN started 21 years ago and celebrated its birthday with a party – all as a result of one man, John Hallett, acting in obedience to God’s word.
The Conference was an opportunity
  • to understand more of Jesus’ Journeys with Bob Hunt and Ken & Dorothea Hall,
  • to share with each other experiences faced in projects abroad,
  • to see displays of pictures from past projects,
  • to enjoy spending time with other volunteers in a relaxed atmosphere,
  • to enjoy some party fun led by staff from All Nations Christian College,
  • to hear from John Hallett and Ruth Brooksbank about the start of the Network,
  • to engage with people from Mission organisations on the receiving end of SVN work,
  • to hear of opportunities in new projects,
  • and to have time to worship God together each day.
With thanks to all the staff at the wonderful Kings Park Conference Centre and to the conference planning team, particularly to Ann Bielby, who was unable to attend.

"21 years of SVN’s Journeys with Jesus”

It was in the autumn of 1995 that God led John Hallett to found Senior Volunteer Network and we are looking forward to celebrating SVN’s 21st Birthday in the King’s Park Conference Centre in Northampton this November for our bi-annual conference.

There will be opportunities to reflect on God’s goodness in the past and His challenges for the future.
Our time together will include:
  • Worship and Bible studies ‘ Journeys with Jesus’ led by Rev Dr Bob Hunt
  • Reflections and insights from our speakers Christine Perkins  on her experience of the challenges of education in Africa, and  Moira Smith on her work in education  supporting families working in East Asia.  Jill Ford, a tutor at All Nations Christian College will be sharing creative ideas for SVN volunteers in using drama, music and mime on projects.
  • Time to swop resources, meet new people, relax and chat and get out into the countryside (weather permitting!)
……and of course we will have a birthday party!

All this in the very comfortable surroundings of the King’s Park Centre.
So do plan to come, we are looking forward to meeting as many SVN members as possible in November, together with interested spouses and friends who are welcome to join with us.

Download the Booking Form here, print and complete it, and return to us with your deposit.
