A team will be visiting Kasese in South West Uganda during the first two weeks of October 2017. Five schools have been set up by Watchmen International, initially for orphan children who would otherwise have no education. The schools are for primary and early years. One more volunteer is needed. Volunteers will fly to Kampala and then travel by bus to Kasese, which is about an 8 hour journey. There is good guest house accommodation.
Volunteers will need a valid yellow fever certificate.
Cost approx. £1000
The Philippines with Elim Missions May/June 2018
In February 2017, two of us made an initial visit to the Philippines following an invitation from an English missionary running two Nursery schools for impoverished children. We observed and gave advice to the teachers and ran two workshops about learning through play, to which other teachers were invited. Around 60 teachers attended each of these.
We have been invited back and are now asking for volunteers who have Primary and/or Secondary experience to help run teacher training conferences in Manilla and Coron (involving a 40 minute internal flight). The children will be on the end of year holiday, but the teachers have to be at work for part of the time. Some of our time may be taken up with visiting the teachers in their school environments to help with planning.
The dates have not yet been finalised as the Department of Education has not yet published the term dates. The visit will be around the end of May and the beginning of June 2018, and will last just over two weeks from leaving home to arriving back.
The cost will be just over £1000. Accommodation will be in modest hotels recommended by our missionary friend.
