JUBILEE SCHOOL, Conakry, Guinea, for about two weeks in late 2019 or early 2020
We need two secondary teachers to join two primary teachers
Project Leader, Jean Brims has visited the school twice in recent years and the head teacher has now requested a visit by a team from SVN. Jean worked with the primary department, but the secondary teachers would now like to share the training to improve their teaching skills. We are looking for one or two secondary experienced teachers to complete the team, including a science teacher to help with ideas to use local items for experiments.
The date is to be decided, but will probably be between November 2019 and March 2020 to avoid the wet season. The cost would be around £1200. The SVN Bursary Fund can support this project.

MILESTONE COLLEGE, Dhaka, Bangladesh
A Team Leader is required to set up a new project for 2020
Primary and secondary teachers are needed to provide support and training, including English language support
SVN has been asked to consider another project at this school which is well known to previous volunteers. There are opportunities to support teachers at primary and secondary level. We need someone to lead a team. We also need volunteers who can work across the school at primary or secondary level. Milestone College is a very large school and volunteers have been very well looked after on previous projects. Some have stayed a month, others stayed longer.
Please contact us on svnetprojects@gmail.com to find out more and to volunteer. We look forward to your response.
OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PIPELINE
John Perkins is investigating a possible project in Ethiopia. This might take place in the autumn of 2019. We will let you have more details when he returns from his visit there.
There is a possibility of a project in South Kenya. This might be for help with learning through play for the Nursery classes, and input with English teaching for the Upper Primary (11-14). We are awaiting a decision on this from the Trustees of the school.
We will send out more information as soon as we have it should there be a need for volunteers on the two opportunities mentioned above.
We thank God for the way he has used SVN to meet needs presented in various ways:
- RWANDA May/June 2019 This project is now fully staffed
- OMF contacted SVN with a need for someone with experience of working with deaf children. We identified someone who is able to do this
- A request for child protection training in a school in Egypt is being taken forward by an SVN volunteer.
- Manipur, India Thank you to those of you who volunteered for the project in Manipur, India. This project is still on hold as the Foreign Office advice is not to travel there.
