Jubilee School Guinea February 2018
Jean Brims has visited Jubilee school twice and the school has now requested a visit by SVN volunteers. Jean worked with primary teachers and introduced them to Jolly Phonics reading and writing programme. The head teacher has requested follow up training in reading and writing skills for primary teachers and opportunities to explore “learning by doing.” The teaching of creative activities, including art is also requested.
For secondary teachers EFL, keeping and using a library and practical science has been requested.
The development of library skills could be developed for both primary and secondary pupils.
Volunteers would need to work as a team and flexibility is essential.
One primary teacher and two secondary teachers are needed.
Accommodation will be arranged and will be basic but clean- no flushing toilets, bucket showers. It may be necessary to share rooms.
Costs: approx £1200 depending on air fares
