There is a new opportunity to work with refugees in Athens over the Christmas period. This follows a visit by a new volunteer to an international church in Athens during the summer.
This is a great opportunity for creative ideas and sharing the Christian message. Classes for those wishing to learn English are already in place and volunteers may be involved in these.
At present the children are not receiving education, but it may be possible to enlist the help of some refugees and set up some schooling. Further visits could take place to help develop this.
The project would take place in a large church building.
The pastor of the church is visiting the UK in September.
Dates: 19th December-2nd January.
Cost: air fare £250-300
Accommodation would be free but volunteers would share the cost of food.
Murree Christian School Pakistan Mid January-end of May 2017
This school serves MKs and national Christian leaders. The children are aged 9-19 and is a boarding school in the beautiful Himalayan foothills, 70 minutes drive from Islamabad.
Help is needed with teaching history and religious studies, particularly to middle school students [KS3] from mid January till end of May.
Even help for three months within those four and a half months would be a blessing.
The classes are very small- around 5-9 students in a class and the school is a supportive Christian community, with housing provided for all ex-pat staff. The students are well motivated and have good relationships with the teaching staff.
There is also opportunity to contribute to campus church services and the weekly school assembly.
The school website is www.mcs.org.pk
